Job Summary

The right candidate will support the development and execution of the company’s messaging for a wide array of technology brands and our 4 divisions (Gadgets & Tech, Premium Audio & Own Brand, 3D & Print, Software & Imaging). You will be responsible for designing innovative digital and print based marketing campaigns on behalf of a wide range of market leading products to create exceptional value for our sales force and brand partners. Your work will reach retailers/etailers, resellers, businesses, public sector organisations and consumers throughout Europe.

As a Web/Print Graphic designer, you'll give our customers the best on- and offline experience possible. You'll create user-journeys from initial concept to final design and testing, presenting them to product managers and directors alike. We’re looking for a commercially aware designer with a strong visual flair and the know-how to back it all up. You’ll be working closely with our Brands, Designers and the Marketing team, soexcellent organisational skills are a must.

Job Content

  • Create cutting-edge marketing designs, collateral, themes and templates to support a wide range of marketing campaigns.
  • Work with all applications of marketing communication including website design, print advertising, email communication, packaging, point-of-sale, online banners and presentations.
  • Understand and follow a set or blank canvas brief from the business to deliver outstanding creative results for appoval by the client.
  • Apply commercial awareness and a solid understanding of our product range to develop exciting and compelling design themes in conjunction with marketing messaging.
  • Fluent in the essential front-end web development languages, i.e. HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experienced in working with applications and business layers written in Java, .Net, AJAX, PHP, XHTML and Ruby
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite programs, e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash & Flex to mock-up and design UI elements.
  • Use responsive web design to create user interfaces that automatically conform to multiple screen sizes and devices.
  • Familiar with JavaScript framework tools for targeting the many needs of large-scale client-side web developments like Dojo.
  • Conduct usability testing to identify and fix UI problems, and gather real-world intelligence from their target market.
  • Utilize social networking APIs (from Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.) to integrate social actions.
  • Have working knowledge of one or more of the leading DBMS, e.g. MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle and IBM DB2.
  • Collaborate with business and IT decision makers to discuss user interface requirements and brainstorm ideas.
  • Use visual aids, including wireframes, storyboards and UI flow charts, to plan and present user interface designs.
  • Experience of using a CMS application like WordPress, Joomla! or Drupal
  • Wield your knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to develop search engine-friendly user interfaces 
  • Keep current with the latest trends and best practices of UI/UX design and HCI (human-computer interaction)
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working closely with the Product Management and Sales teams and liaising directly with Brands.
  • Have a creative, proactive and motivated approach, challenging briefs where necessary.
  • Be a creative supporter of the team, making our marketing sizzle!
  • Successfully balance creativity despite CU and Brand restrictions/guidelines.
  • Develop (with your colleagues) and execute engaging internal communications.
  • Be punctual, maintain dress standards and conduct yourself with exceptional personal professionalism.
  • Maintain excellent time management to turn around a brief to final design and approval within set deadlines.
  • Prepare and flight-check all files before submitting for print production, and likewise for digital deployment.
  • Ability to manage online projects within deadline orientated environment
  • Perform any ad hoc duties deemed appropriate by your manager.

Qualifications& Training

  • Educated to A-level or above. Desirable – CIM or Degree level qualifications (eg Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Computer Science, etc)
  • Ideally, 3+ years industry experience working in a CE or IT based distributor, vendor or reseller
  • Technical knowledge of marketing design
  • Relevant online portfolio

 

Must have skills

  • Operating platforms – Unix, Windows, Apple OS. 
  • Experience in one of the following WordPress, Joomla!, Magento, osCommerce
  • Software – Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver Flash & Flex, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Experience multi-tasking projects effectively within tight deadlines 
  • Experience implementing analytical solutions (e.g. Omniture, Google Analytics, WebTrends) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
