Composite Design Engineer

Our client is a first tier supplier to the global aviation Industry, a leader in the manufacturing of highly complex areostructures and engine products. The successful applicant will be a Structures Designer with at least 5 years post graduate/qualified aerospace industry experience. You will have completed a Catia V5 fundamentals course with a minimum of 7500 hours and posses good experience in solid modelling and surfacing skills.

The successful applicant will have a good knowledge of composite manufacturing processes (knowledge of metallic also desirable) and will be prepared to work with the Development Engineers to understand the practical limitations ensuring a sound ‘Design for Manufacture’ approach.

It would be beneficial to have a good understanding of ‘concept’ through to ‘hardware’ processes and be proficient in interpreting engineering drawing produced by others. As a Composite Design Engineer for this company, you will be expected to complete a detailed tolerance analysis to check for potential interface clash at maximum condition and propose changes to mitigate these situations.

The flexibility to adopt a ‘hands on’ approach to support design and manufacture of components is desirable. Ideally the experience of the applicant will include component design, tolling design and proficiency in production of tolerance drawings.
