Bailey Finch Associates have pleasure in assisting our client with the vacancy of Communications Manager within their business.

The role will involve playing a key role in the development of internal communications as well delivering both print and online communications material in support of two of the business's operating units. The role includes media relations, client liaison and other external communications and marketing activities. Strong writing skills are a pre-requisite for this role.

Your responsibilities

    Develops and implements communications strategies and plans for two specific business areas
    provides content for – and contributes to the development of – the intranet, external website and social media activities
    Develops and provides content for employee newsletters and external facing publications
    Proactively manages the relationship with targeted media contacts, creating press releases and identifying media opportunities
    Event management –  both internal and external
    Ensures company's brand guidelines are followed in all communications
    Works with the in-house creative services team to oversee delivery of communications material
    Develops robust relationships with senior managers and within key identified business areas

Skills, experience & qualifications required:

The successful candidate will have direct experience of working within an in-house communications function or communications agency. A relevant degree or equivalent in journalism, marketing, public relations or a writing-based discipline is an advantage. Also an advantage, though not essential, is experience in a construction-related environment or one that includes a widely dispersed, project-based workforce.  The individual will need to have the following skills:

    Ability to undertake and oversee the three broad requirements for a good communications manager:
    the insight and experience to be able to ‘unpack’ a problem or challenge and break it down into its constituent parts
    the ideas needed to develop a creative solution
    the appropriate project management skills to ensure successful product/service delivery
    Ability to write in a well-structured, purposeful manner for a wide range of media, including the company magazine, intranet, social media and press releases
    Outgoing and enthusiastic relationship builder, well respected by peers and managers
    A can-do, positive attitude, willing to go the extra mile
    A team player, willing to get involved in other aspects of the Communications department’s activities where necessary
    Ability to inspire respect and trust from senior managers
    Understands and provides guidance on internal communications techniques and tools
    Understands the principles associated with activities such as graphic design, web design, print production and management, video production, media relations, social media, events and crisis management
    Has the ability to lead and deliver a number of projects running concurrently
    Calm under pressure
    Flexible – able to adapt quickly and respond to new business priorities
