Our client are a leading global first tier supplier to the civil and military aerospace markets, specialising in complex composite and metallic aerostructures and engine products.
They are looking to hire a Lead Composites Designer within their Composite Research Centre in Hampshire.
ROLE PURPOSE:
· To lead the design activity relating to wing research and development.
· Contribute to the holistic efforts of the Composite Technology Centre adopting a flexible and creative approach to tasking.
· Actively participate in coaching and training others for the wider dissemination and awareness of accrued knowledge.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Comprehensive knowledge of wing structure
· Significant experience in the design/analysis/test/certification of composite airframe structures.
· Significant experience of CATIA V5 surfacing and solid modelling design packages
· Recognised degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
· Good understanding of the manufacturing processes for composite components.
· Experience related to wing design and manufacture.
· Knowledge of assembly and the influence of tolerances.
· Understanding of FEM techniques.
· Proactive with regard to new developments in the area of expertise.
· Good interpersonal team working skills.
· Self motivated and resourceful.
· Innovative toward all aspects of the job.
· Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment.
· Good reporting skills on project status and progress.
· Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers.
· Willingness to travel (UK and Europe).
· Flexibility towards hours of work when (occasional) tight deadlines emerge.
· Have a responsible approach to the Health & Safety of themselves and others.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
· Familiarity with Airbus design methods.
· Design signatory responsibility
